I thought that's what a smartlink is! A camera on the gun which it linked
you eyes. Let me give you an example. You have half a set of crosshairs on
your retina when the smartlink is turned on, lets say the verticle part. When
the light sensors (read camera) on the gun are lined up on the same object as
your eyes, then the horizontal part of the crosshairs become visual, and you
know your aiming at what you're looking at. This is what I thought becuase I
grew up on AD&D, and one of my favorite adventures was "Expedition to the
Barrier Peaks" and in it they had rifles which used a precurser to the
smartgoggles. There was a camera device on top of the gun which transmitted
an image to a pair of goggles hooked up to the gun. The image was ghost-like,
so it wouldn't impair your normal vision, but when the ghost image coincided
with your real vision, then you knew you were aiming at your target. I would
think that the only real problem would be getting the adaptor on the gun
upgraded to where it could transmit video images, and getting some sort of
recording device in your head.
