Ok a few replys all bundled into 1.

Combat pool, deadly damge etc..

First off, I'll have to disagree with Jason Carter on the use of the combat
pool for doging. First off there is nothing wrong with your arguments,
except that maybe you are taking the rules literally where they really need
to interpreted logically.

However I honestly think the combat pool is supposed to a combined
dodge pool and firearms pool (or whatever type of combat you are doing). The
reason for this is that I remember reading somewhere in S2 that the combat
pool represents how much concentration you are putting into either your
attack, or into your defense. So in my mind if you are using all of your
combat pool for defense that is effectively dodging. Situations where the
combat pool is being split could then be argued that they no longer function
as a pure dodge/firearms pool, but more as a 'reduce damage'/firearms pool.
But I would still be inclined to say that it remains a pure dodge/attack pool.

Ok, Deadly damage.

Reading through the various yeas and nays I have a suitable system, which
is derived from everybodys comments (this way I don't have to list the names).

First off handle the combat pool as a pure dodge/attack pool, as suggested
above.

Second all dodge attacks use 10-(attackers TN, disregarding optical mag).
Change the base number here if you think it is too high/low.

If after an attack and resistance test the total number of succeses brings the
staging to above deadly. a) Reduce the targets body by 1 (this is with
respect to living 10 min/body)
b) If the success take the body down to 0 ie there
are 2*body extra successes, then it is an
instant kill.

Nearly forgot. Stun damage overflows to physical unless it has come from
a spell (1 character in our group has a magic pool of 24, centers to reduce
TN's then fires force 2 mana bolt (S1 rules), gross or what ?) or a Taser.

Don't forget that if you want to kill someone just do what my players do,
after they drop an NPC they usually slit their throats are put a burst into
the head. This way, NPC's don't come back to haunt them.

Ok, I'm on a roll now, so lets see what else I can comment on.

Depleted Uranium ?
Nah, don't know nothing about that.

Phys Ads ?
Yeah, know lots about them.

Re: Them Phys ads.

Can phys ads do alot of damage to cars with killing hands ?

Sorry, but a definate no on that one. A phys ad attacking a car has to use
bear hands. Now, ok so they are enchanted, but they are 'bare' hands.
I do Taekwondo and my instructor once said something like 'If you hit some
thing hard enough, it won't hurt you'. Now while this is true for things
which break or move (ie boards and punch bags) there is no way a fist can
slice through a piece of metal, unless it is very thin. In this case you
can whack a car all you like but you will only dent it, maybe smash the
windows, but you won't be able to punch your way past the chassis. Also
don't forget that if what you hit doesn't move or break then Newtons first
(I think) law of motion comes into play. Everything has an equal and opposite
reaction. So that car is gonna hurt you as much as you hurt it.

And on forth.

Magic pools.

Ok so under S2 phys ads don't get magic pools (good thing I still play S1 eh?).
But come on, why not ? Now the way we played it was to say that on initiation
phys ads got the regualar spell defense and on second initiation they got
shielding. We have 2 phys ads in our group at the moment but only 1 has
sorcery skill (4) (I think the other may get some), and playing this way we
find that it gives the phys ads just that extra little bit of magic resistance,
which lets face it, as a magical adept, there're entitled to it.

Cybernetic uplinks.

Can they go in the head ?

Sure if you don't mind a sat dish sticking out of the top of your head. But
no, these things are big pieces of equipment requiring large amps and more
importantly large power supplies. Even if the esscence wasn't way too much
you would never be able to power the thing. (Btw how are C2 decks powered ?).

Now could they go into a deck. Same problem really, you would need a very
large deck which would then detract from it's portablility.

Do what I.B.A. does, he has a satuplink in his van, along with his bed,
guns, rocket launchers, C12, deck, clothes, food ... he rarely washes by the
way.

Dove totem.

I like it, especially the semi-empathy part. But why do they get +2 dice for
just 1 spirit ?

Thermographic eyes.

Mike Barrett mentioned something intresting. He said you can mentally
switch thermo cyber-eyes off. Well the way we play thermo eyes is 2 fold,
first we distinguish between real thermo (ie dwarf, or phys ad) and cyber
thermo. Natural thermo we say you can see all the time and that when it
becomes darker you notice more of i/r given off by warm bodies. Cyber
however we play as if you switch on and off the thermo. When off you use
normal or low-light eyes, when on, you can only see in the i/r spectrum.

Now as regards to sleeping don't forget that your eyes roll back to some
convoluted angle, so seeing your eyelids wouldn't be a problem. It could
be argued that you would see the i/r from the inside of your head but I'm
sure you could adjust to it.

One important point from this is the way our group handles flash paks. As
the flash is primarily a light source and involves little heat we allow
players with pure cybered eyes to set them to thermo, release a flash pak
and fire with no flash mods. Now if this were a dwarf or phys ad, they
don't have that ability to turn thermo on and off so their normal sight
would be blinded by the flash.

Martial Arts rules.

Nicely done, alot of effort has obviously gone into converting them, and I'll
be printing them out to have a proper read. But, skimming through it does
all seem a little bit complicated. If you were to use them it would mean
referencing the rules every melee fight. So for the time being I think I
stick to the simple, but fast standard rules for Unarmed/Armed combat.

Well thats all I have to say for 1 day. Give yourself a big clap on the
back if you actually read all of my ramblings.

Comments/flames/discussions awaited....
