"You shoot me and get seven successes. (*Whuff*) I get the same two
successes as before. (oops) This was an opposed test so you get a
net of five successes. You, being very stylish, shot me with a
Predator II, staging the damage up to 9D. Yes I chose 7 to avoid
the Deadly++ senario. Now I get to try to resist the dammage from the
attack. ..."
Oops. Not quite.
The attacker rolls and counts his successes. You roll body + combat pool
with target # of 9 (power of attack) - armor. If combat pool dice successes
alone exceed attacker's successes, it's a clean miss. Otherwise, if attacker
generated more successes, he stages damage up by 1 level for every 2 NET
successes. If you generated more successes, you stage the damage down 1 level
for every 2 net successes.Period. End of dice rolling.
Note that no "staging" takes place until net successes are determined.
Thus, if (with a Pred. II) the attacker got 4 more successes than the target,
the target immediately falls to the ground, unconscious (possibly dead.)
I know this topic has been beat into the ground, but I had these .02Y just
burning a hole in my pocket, so I thought I'd toss them in.
Cheers.
