Have you ever seen one of these things fire? I wouldn't really call
what they have forward momentum. It's more like downward momentum.
When the A-10 comes in on a firing run, he has about a 45 degree angle
posture; nose down and tail up. This is because armored vehicles (yes,
even the M1 and M1A1 tanks) have virtually NO armor on top. The
reason for this has never been clear to me and I rode them for four years.
(Something to do with not caving in on the crew, I imagine.)
