Yesterday, I was talking to my younger brother. I learned something
new. I always had assumed that invisibility applied to thermographics as
well as all other `essence' visions, since the far infrared is merely a
different wavelength of light. According to the spell description itself,
I was wrong. Wow. Major flaw in that spell.
I suppose even if one did create a spell to cover the infrared
spectrum as well, one would still need to be concerned about the warming
of the air around you, or people tracking you by your `vapor' trail but
those would at least require perception tests and target modifiers, becoming
easier in cold climes and harder in the boiler room.
If you haven't guess though by this, I don't run mages. I have one
physical adept, and one shamanic adept (who has yet to see combat), so I
won't even attempt to create this one, I was merely surprised.

There was another thing he did - that was a result of reading the
rules wrong. Remember how in character creation, you cannot start with
gear that has any rating of over 6? Well, he read that to further mean
that you can't buy any gear with an AVAILIBILITY of over 6. Now, I don't
think it really means that, but what an idea! Personally, I like it.
It could be used as a great GM control in character creation. I
never much cared for the idea of simply not allowing characters to start
with bioware, since it is definately out there, but if you limit it to a
maximum availability of 6, if you notice, things like the suprathyroid gland,
tailored pheromes, and orthoskin are now out of reach. For those who
REALLY like to start low powered campaigns, you could try using max avail.
ratings of 6 for SR2, 5 for SSC, and 4 for Shadowtech and all the other
guides. I don't mean to set any `ideas' in stone here, merely ideas that
people can tailor for their own campaigns.... ]<<<<<
