Never played SRI in a campaign, and I agree that SRII seems a lot better. Some
friends and I have finally found the time to get a group together to start a
campaign. I thought it would be good to get some more playing experience before
I write any more SR tournament modules (2 so far, both well received). ;-)

Good, that makes sense. Another 'point' to the phys ad.

Perhaps. I realise if you don't find/join a magic group (there's a potential
roleplaying reason why not), then it just increases the multiplier.

True. I beginning to see that I haven't thought out the calculations thoroughly.
I also realise I was taking the worst case in initiation - no magic group and
no ordeals, which from memory gives a multiplier of 3 - not good.

Yes, I've seen that. Our GM has got a house rule to make things 'interesting' here.
We are allowed to raise our attributes to 1.5 times the original value OR racial
maximum, whichever is highest.

Yes. I'd prefer to raise the reaction by int/quick anyway.

It may cost too much magic point-wise, but I believe it's worth it to help finish
the pesky combats ASAP. ;-)

I've seen the error of my ways. :-) I'm going to create the character with the
extra 2 initiative dice, extra dice in some skills and maybe killing hands (L).

:-) Not bad. Because it was further down the line than start of play, I hadn't
bothered reading this far in the grimoire. I must find the time...
Social skills, eh? Psych and related fields could be verrrry interesting. :-)

Yes, it's much clearer to me now. This discussion has helped me understand the various
aspects.
