Someone brought up the notion that Aborigines would have become the upper
class in Australia. I agree that they would have become the dominant
culture, the same way the NAN did in North America and due to similar
circumstances. However, I doubt that the Aborigines would have become
materialistic enough to covet the white man's wealth. Like their American
counterparts, they would reclaim the land but continue to use it with
traditional respect mixed with modern techniques. They would be rich in the
sense of controlling the land, but I don't see tribal elder riding around in
Mitsubishi Nightskys.
