Well, I've given a little thought toward making Dead Zones rational. I'm
trying to come up with a believable source for their existence; I may have
one or two causes. Right now I'm looking at the following:

Dead Zones area areas altered more or less permanently modified by magic.
Think of them as a ward or barrier that a mage set up to deliberately
redifine certain laws. This magic is ancient and powerful, beyond the scope
of anything the PCs casn use; they were set up by ancient wizards in the 4th
world or even further in the past.

Legends of wizards who devastated entire areas, creating places where plants
would not grow and animals would not graze, are suuports for this theory.
This allows dead zones to vary widely from one to another, allowing the GM
a level of flexibility that I believe is important.

The only problem I'm encountering is why technology is reported to be affected so
much. I'd like to keep that aspect but I'm not counting on saving anything from
the NAGEE writeup.

Comments are welcome.
