So far the best response I've seen is Raver's: Re-up or get turned in.
I think it depends on how cynical you get about the SRun world. To me,
cyberpunk is a definite possibilty, but I don't think governments will
be quite as powerless as some seem to think. If a runner was ever picked
up and linked to a fake id known to have a Doc Wagon contract, things could
look very bad for the company. So I don't think they turn a blind eye.
And a lot of you are assuming that lotsa 'runners are gonna have DocWagon.
I can't think of a worse time to get picked up than when my guts have been
splattered by corp security all over the Arcology's 133rd floor. First of
all, now the guards know that I've got a DocWagon contract and they can
confront DW and get me turned over to their custody as soon as I'm healed.
Secondly, I doubt a mid-sized corps would take on a giant like MCT just to
get a body; like warranties only cover "normal" activities, there comes a
point where your contract is void.
DocWagon is NOT some cavalry that'll pull your butt out of any situation
you lose control of. They aren't your parents. I'd advise you to
make friends with a ripperdoc or street mage with Treat or Heal; better
yet, have a spellchucker in the party add it to his repetoire.
