i say go ahead and let him buy it and cyber it up...then, when the animal
goes crazy and shreds him and anyone else around and has its brain and
neural system overloaded from the cyberware, it can die from the cyber
rejection....
animals do not take well to being cybered...i don't happen to have my SR2
book handy, but here's what it says in SR1 (and i'm sure its similar):
"...Critters may be equipped with cyberware, usually bodyware (i guess
they meant bioware). Such operations tend to unhinge the animals, making
them vicious and barely within control. Cyber modified animals are as
likely to attack their handlers as intended targets. When unleashing such
an animal, roll 1d6. If the result equals or exceeds the animal's essence
rating, it will turn on its handler. Headware designed to control this
tendency makes the animal stupider and less perceptive, as well as
lowering its essence further. Each control implant lowers essence by 1
while subtracting 2 from the die roll when checking for the animal's
behavior. Each implant also lowers the animal's Mental attribute ratings
by 1..."
kinda like a female wild boar protecting its young....
