OK, After reading about Quickenings in G2, Spell Locks in SR2, and looking
at the errata, I want to re-state what I believe to be the rules on
grounding. I think I may have misinterpreted them due to the semantics
of the errata. I also give a shot at explaing the magic theory behind it all.

Spell Locks
There doesn't seem to be a problem here. Any spell that is locked
may be attacked by another spell. If the attacking spell is physical, it
will ground out through the lock and take effect on the person there. If it
is an AoE spell, it affects everyone within range, with LOS determined by
the attacking mage's position in Astral Space.

Quickenings
You CAN ground through a Quickening. Again, the attacking spell
MUST be physical, though the Quickened spell type is irrelevant. The
question was "Can you ground through a Quickening, and if so, why?". The
answer was, "You can ground through ANY spell regardless of type". But
the attacking spell must must be physical in nature.

OK, all of us understand how w Lock grounding works. But a Quickening?
My explanation is this: Even though there is no physical component at work,
the Quickening holds open the gate between Astral Space and Real Space that
powers the spell. When you attack it, the energy is channel through that
gate EVEN THOUGH THERE IS NO PHYSICAL COMPONENT, and is thus able to
manifest in realspace.

Yeah, something like that. My cyberpig ate my notes. :)
