The spell needs to be sustained AND have a tempoeral link because it
has to tell the anchor when it needs to activate the other spell. This could not be
possible if the spell
were quickened or spell locked. The mage would know a bullet was comming, but
the achor would not. Theoretically if the mage were fast enough he could get
the information and then turn on the anchor, but I don't know many mages that
can move faster than bullets, even with a 60 initiative :>.
