I dont know about the Discover article, but my roommate saw one of those little
science briefs on CNN about a month or so ago on this stuff... currently it can
be apllied to object, baked in the oven or hit with a propane torch and it will
effectively protect it for the rest of its "normal lifetime"... the example the
had was an industrial hammer, it was expected to outlast the normal wear and
tear that it would endure in constant construction use...
the really scarey thing is that they were hoping to have the hair dryer version
out in about 3-5 years on the outside...
of course, then there is the guy up at the University of Minn. working on
cybereyes...
