The Bioware rule is in there because I don't own Shadowtech (yet). Until I
get a chance to read it over, I don't want it in my campaign. Probably I'll
end up allowing it if its that common.

Jason> You don't have to have magic theory to
Jason> learn spells. Now it's completely
Jason> reasonable for you to look at the PC mage
Jason> and say, nice but you need to have some
Jason> magical theory, but it should not need to

Jason> say so on how the players design their

Jason> have magic theory.

They can have spells without magic theory, just not start with one at a
force higher than 3. Once the game starts, they can learn spells at a
higher force, if they can find a formula.

Jason> As for spell formula ratings, instead of
Jason> saying they are only sold are force 3 ,
Jason> make the cost equal to the the drain code
Jason> price (in SRII) times the force whic h it
Jason> is written at. That allows the player to

Jason> forces him to pay for it.

I just don't want to establish a precedent of making spells available
through easy purchase at higher than force 3. "I go down to the local Spelz
-R-Us and buy Fireball-7 with my cut of the payoff." I will probably use
your suggestion for calculating the base price, though they'll have to
negotiate.

More later, but I gotta run now.
