So you want to cast an illusion spell on the moon, eh. . .

Well, some say you can't, some say you can. Depends on much.

I say: No, don't bother with the NAGEE article. Hearsay (or heresay, better
yet heresy).

Spells travel through Astral Space. The Question is, is Astral Space between
Earth and the Moon?

Astral Space is, theoretically, produced and maintained by life. All living
things have an aura. One theory holds that the Planet Earth itself has an
aura, which forms most of Astral Space.

There's no life on the moon. Unless you believe in Lovecraftian Moon Men,
the inhabitants described by Wells, or truly believe that the moon is made
of cheese (since cheese is cultured milk. really, try blasting Beethoven
at your milk. See what happens).

However, the Earth has some very definite and very strong effects on the
Earth. They're called tides. So you could argue that it's part of the
Terran biosystem and therefore CAN be affected by spells. Maybe there's
a thin corridor of astral space that connects to it. Perhaps it 'thins
out' as you leave Earth, so that it isn't possible for a mage to navigate
this corridor.

So, I say ask your GM. Though FASA will probably tell you you can't do it,
they may change their mind if they have an adventure or supplement for it.
Wouldn't be the first time they changed their minds.

Oh, don't forget to take into account area-of-effect, and the optional
distance/size mods in Grim2..
