Lemmesee, Ice Sheet, Flame Volt, Spark... (Those are manipulation, right?)

>health spells - yes the panther is sometimes used to help healing. but this is
>more out of respect for his killing potential. Healing he can do - but why I

Well, how about a 'recomended spell'? Something along the lines of "If
you'r going to combat, then you're going to need this..."

> Detection + Healing are possibilities but so many other totems have
>them I figured it would be cliche.

Be cliche, it's in vogue =)

> Illusion and combat suit it more in that it is hardly ever seen or heard
>from. It is one of the most elusive animals in the wild.

Why not? TYhey're kinda on the list...

>Disadvantages and things
>Panther requires a lot out of the shaman panther would like them to be able to

>fit.

Hmm, that's something on the character inception, neh?

>ideas
>1. MIN's str 3, bod 3, qck 4, int 4, will 4. ALso needs to take stealth
>and armed/unarmed combat. plus a survival skill (wilderness or social)
>- like I said - rely on physical not magical

That's dictating the character a lot. Shamans _do_ have some freedoms in
life...

>2. Blood lust and not giving up (will tn# 4). If in a fight the shaman must
>succeed in a will power test to break it off.
> - Panthers will sometimes act sheep-pens, the number of moving prey
>close by interacts with their instincts - they just keep on killing because
>thats what they are ment to do.

Well, that works, but it's a titch harsh.

>Remember - of all predators cats are the most specialized - their whole makeup
>is based towards efficiency and lethalness of the kill.

So work in the restriction that, in a combat the shaman must use the most
efficient means possible to subdue / incapacitate the enemy. If the means
are 'subtle', all the more better (I:E: Using a mana dart over Urban Renual
would make Panther happy.)

>Note - Panthers do not sit and wait for prey - they keep on moving most of the
>time. They don't run like a wolf, rather they zig-zag across their teritory
>continously. Also Panthers tend to have one of the largest territories of any
>land preditor. In florida the ave. terr. is 5x that of a bear.

Tigers roam about 10 Sq. Miles. So Cougars are somewhat similar.

"It's not like talking with people. With people, anything can be said and
nothing matters. Words and words and words. You go to a party... people
sit around and say things. Anything. Just to talk. Put forth views and
debate them. Sometimes you get a new idea. Sometimes something changes"
