I would tend to think you are overdoing it. There are several
disadvantages to sniper rifles. First of all they have really small ammo
cappacities. Usually something like 5-10 rounds. This would make most
runners have to reload every turn or so. Two, they can only fire 2 shots
at a time, your sub-gun could lay down a burst of 10 if it wants to.
Three, if memory serves none of the sniper rifles in the game have a
concealability worth mentioning. This means that most places the cop will
pull you over and you had better have a REALLY good reason to be carrying
such heavy firepower. Lastly if they want to take advantage of the
sights, or magnification they will have to aim, this will reduce thier
fire considerably.
As far as the power of the round they are substantially heavier
currently. A modern assult rifle fires a 5.56mm round(.22 caliber size
with a lot more propellent I think 4-5 times as much but could be
wrong, the snipers fire a 7.62mm round(.30 caliber or a medium machine gun
round) this does translate to a nastier wound by far. This is however the
same size round as was used by the Brits in their infantry rifles for most
of the century. There is no real problem firing one of these while
standing, although it does help your aim to have a brace of some sort.
