OK people, this is a question which has bothered me for a long time.

What are NERPS?

I own all of the published source material, and the answer ain't in
there. I've seen that some of you seem to know what NERPS are,
referring to them as a kind of inside joke. I love jokes. So clue me
in. I wonder about these things.
