Yep, they do exist. I have one PC playing one in my game and TNO book mentions
them a wee bit in the druid section.
Just remember that most Elves are assumed to be hermetics and that way can get
with almost anything they want to without the Totem having a say.

Just shove them in games as definately different indivuals, who are respected
but shuned (due to their different ways of thinking, possibly perceived as
backward and crude, and to the defference they show to the Totems.).
Perhaps the elven shamen are more together that the hermetics and thus just
do their own thing, no caring what socity says about them ?
There is no rules against being a elven shaman I know of. The totems just
call and say "hey, follow me" and that's about it really.
