I just thought I would take a moment to point out that the Su-27 Flanker was
a recent design that was suposed to oppose the F-15. It worked well with
the new missle compilment the Soviets built at the same time, but with the
advent of the AMRAAM the soviet missles were out of date. Significantly so.

the AMRAAM is usable on the F-16 too. This gives it a much better chance to
engage target at long range (about 25 miles optimum). It can't carry enough
of them though. Still not the palne of choice.


The Flanker is better than the F15 because of its versitility. The Strike
version of the F15 is a better match, but still not as good. It doesn't
have carrier landing capability for example.
