I take it you mean NPCs to attack your players with.

I don't know if you have the Grimoire, but you could give the NPC's group an
Initiate, who has prepared some anchored spell locks for the NPCs (p.47 of
the Grimoire). You could make it a Detect Magic spell anchored to some Spell
Barrier spell or something. If the Detect Magic senses a spell being thrown
at it, it erects the Spell Barrier, protecting the object and its wearer. It
might not totally shield them, but at least gives them more protection than
normal. Either that, or give them a few really strong elementals or spirits
with them, with orders to attack any astrally-projecting/perceiving magicians
who have an LOS to the NPCs.
