Airport metal detectors are magnetic anomality detectors (MAD), which means
they will only tag metals that can be magnetized, so they don't pick up
lead. They will pick up steel, the primary material used in firearms
design. Furthermore, depending on how paranoid security is, the MAD gear is
tuned to only trigger on largish quantities (ie, small handgun sized or
larger).

BTW, even Terminator Space Marines aren't that big (under 2 inches tall).

No. X-rays are a high-end electromagnetic wave. You need something dense
like lead or gold to block them. Aluminum is like paper to an x-ray.
Besides, most metal detectors are MAD, not x-ray.
