Er, not quite. Airport metal detectors (and all walk-through metal
detectors to my knowledge) work by generating an RF field pulse then
detecting the return from the metal within the field. What happens is
the pulse radiates the metal, and when it cuts off the metal continues to
radiate for a little while. MAD only works for very large pieces of
metal, and its a detector only.
