I've never run that particular experiment with the airport-style metal
detector & x-ray machine here (the joys of working in a gov't building), but
I have seen a can of soda send the alarm meter off the scale on the metal
detector, and my aluminum clipboard that I carry in my backpack (considerably
thicker than a soda can, I'd said) didn't keep me from being able to ID
everything else in my bag.
