Though I've got no experiences with an SR/CoC crossover, I'm planning my
next sessions using a modified version of a Cthulhu adventure. I agree
with you in not letting the Great Old Ones show up themselves, not only
because they surely would kill the party but also because their appereance
seems rather out of place in the SR-world (there are some exceptions IMHO).

Yes, expacially Shoggoth make up a real hard enemy, I think.

That's not my opinion. Cthulhoid plots may work very fine in SR, if you
use them in a similiar way as it is done with the Brotherhood : much
intrigue, big baddies always in the background and even the lesser
creatures only show up in very important parts of the story.
Of course you have to be careful about a few things. For example : SR
is no space game. Forget about the Funghi, don't use gates to other planets
and so on. Maybe the strong Mana has destroyed these connections.
The Outer Gods can be handled as a kind of very powerful spirits on a
faraway metaplane (nearly impossible to reach, of course) rather than
being some aliens (this fits quite well into Lovecraft's concept of
the Outer Gods willing but not able to reach Earth). The Dreamlands
could be a kind of a metaplane, too.
To put an end to this thoughts, I think there's much room for some
really nice adventures in an SR/CoC crossover. IMHO such an adventure
should still be an exception in an SR-campaign, though.
