As I remember from the gas chamber - CS was the variety they used in our
training - I will break this down for exposure [we were supposed to take
off our mask, give name, rank and social, wait to be dismissed and exit
the building]

1] heavy exposure - this guy got a concentrated dose - choking, unable to
speak, burning of exposed areas, nose running like a the kitchen sink, major
amounts of tears, EXTREMELY difficult to breath, confusion [he couldn't even
remember his own name], stumbled several times trying to get out

2] medium exposure - light choking, still major amounts of tears, VERY
difficult to breath, some light burning of facial tissues, nose still
running bunches, hard to speak, still hard to find his way out.

3] light exposure - very light choking, still major amounts of tears,
nose still running, light burning around the mouth and eyes, still pretty
hard to breath, kinda hard to speak, not too hard to find the way out.

After effects of exposure - Clothing MUST be changed ASAP the CS is still
in the clothing..Normal washing takes care of it. Some people were silly
enough to rub their eyes on the way back to the dorms - this caused
burning and the tears to flow again. Others reported that their hands
hurt or burned [washing with soap and water took care of it]. Others [2
out of about 15 or so] with fair skin the next day after normal washing
had sore hands and chapped lips 1 inch around the lips and the worse of
the 2 also had peeling facial skin [kinda like from a sunburn].

I should also put in here that the instructor took off his mask with the
first guy that got the heavy exposure and didn't put it back on or leave
until me and about 4 other guys left with light exposure. Call him crazy
but he seemed to suffer almost none of the effects the rest of us
suffered. He had built up his imunity through prolonged exposure. And of
course he rubbed it in as soon as he could...Hope this helps...
