IMHO, I'd think that only the best of the best of Nightclubs could
even come close to affording magical security for their establishment.
I would, however, expect sensitive corp. facilities to be warded and
have a mage on screening duty.

The cheap, low-tech solution to preventing the runners from mentally
overriding the guards on scan duty is to simply put a loud buzzer on
the sensor. As soon as a weapon is detected: BZZZT! "You're busted!"

Some places might want to have a discrete weapons-detection system,
like in a decent hotel. Stick a guard behind a one-way mirror also
watching the sensor (and perhaps many others) and the lone gun-toting
mage has problems. Even better, put the sensor room away from the
entrance, with lots of camera monitors. Still easy for smart runners
to make it in, but they have to work at it. And thats the goal of
a lot of security; making it too costly/difficult for someone to
break through it.
