Not quite sure what you mean about this, but I think it's fairly safe to say
that telephone companies would have a massive matrix presence seeing as it's
their computers that make the matrix what it is.

This certainly one way to go, but it just makes it more challenging for other
companies. You also have to worry about the telephone company itself, it may
have red-9 nodes but they have the pass codes, and what about the feds ? Will
they still have access ? What about a crime that has been committed against
company X and company X knows that the local telephone company has within it's
computers the information necessary to find out who was responsible for that
crime. If the phone company refuses does company X retaliate ? Or does it
appeal to the corp court ?
