Very true. The point our unloquacious friend Granite seems to be
making is that though an AI is likely to be _started_ by programmers, the
very nature of such a program is that it will, over time, reprogram itself
as it learns and expands.
From a human programmers' point of view, the whole idea is
ludicrous. But, the most interesting thing about AI systems is that
they're likely to think in all sorts of strange ways.
