Where that came from is the base Essence of 12 + max. Spirit Energy of 24 =
max. effective Essence of 36, which is then counted at *2 as armor against
non-muscle-powered ranged attacks when Manifesting. It's not hardened, nor
is it effective against melee attacks, but I wish you good luck trying to get
close enough to a Wraith to engage it in melee while its using its Influence
on you (or on other people in the area to have _them_ stop you - permanently)
to protect itself.

Oh, and I'm not sure whether I would call a spirit "a simple creature"... I
definitely don't consider horrors (even minor ones) as such... ;)
