Nothing is said about it, but here's my reasoning. A physical barrier will
let in anything molecule sized and smaller- otherwise the mage inside would soon
have serious breathing problems. Now, we see by our optic nerves picking up
light reflected off of objects. Since this light is made up of photons, which
are much smaller than a molecule, light would be able to pass through the
barrier and the mage inside would be able to see through it.
