First off, I just wanna add my 2 cents about something that has
been bugging me lately... attitudes. Several people on this list
seem unable to respond to in a mature manner and must include
childish, condescending comments that truly detract from the
overall discussions. How about a little restraint people...?

Now as for quickenings. Perhaps I am alone in this opinion, but
with regard to Quickenings, I, as a player of a magician,
would *never* use these things. They are, as a replacement for
spell locks, not worth the trouble the cause...

Here is the secret: If you have some spell "quickened" to you,
then forget about entering a shamanic lodge, or a ward. In either
case your astral circuit MUST engage in astral combat with the
permanent astral barrier that each of the forementioned objects
create. So, given your team is attempting to infiltrate someplace
with decent security, ie wards, your mage has 3 options that I
can think of off the top of my head; (1) engage his own quickening
in combat so that it does not encounter the ward, (2) engage the
ward so that the quickening will not have to engage it, (3) let
the two astral "entities" clash and hope for the best.

In any event you are looking at losing the quickening, jeopardizing
the mission (because it does state that a mage is aware when one
of their wards is assaulted/destroyed), or both.

IMHO, quickenings are not worth the karma and the hassle they
impose.
