It's more than that; it's deliberately left unspecified to try to
discourage people from getting bogged down in technical arguments
about what a megapulse represents.

This is justifiable in real terms by assuming that, just like the
present-day shift away from plain (light-weight) ASCII to RTF/PS/etc.,
or even to sound and images, then as speeds and memory capacities
increase, so too does the richness of the data. You know, textured
surfaces on the knobs of those matrix objects, with that sharkskin
grippiness feel...
