Hi Chummers, long time no see, but its really good to be back :)

Ok heres my question, its from Fields of Fire this
Xtremely K-rad sourcebook :)
In the sections about suppression fire it says something like
"each round fired covers a one-meter area for 10 combat phases"
Well whats that supposed to mean, 10 phases are 5 complex actions
and 5 complex actions are about 1.5 rounds which is really a lot of
time even for our MEGAcybered friends here.Does it mean that if
someone steps into that area in the next 1.5 rounds risks getting hit?
Or is it just an abstract quantity to be taken into account only by
the GM when determining the reactions of the NPC's?
I think that the first explanation would tend to make Suppresion fire
even more powerfull than it already is (which is quite a bit) and
I must say that I doubt the realism of the whole idea. I personally
have no experience with guns much less with full auto firing
machineguns, but it seems to me that someone would have to shoot
a lot more bullets to effectively cover some space for 3-4 seconds.

Any ideas ?
