In some of the runs I've been doing some of the northern parts of the
former U.S.S.R. have basically turned into feudal states run by
warlords (one of which I have based after Raven in Snowcrash.) One of
these feudal states which is a huge data haven.

There's also a small nation in the Atlantic that is made from
some abandoned oil rigs and loads upon loads of ships and boats
lashed together. This place is more of a city-state that is a major
hub for fencing data. The reason is - to become a citizen of the
nation, all you have to do is have a deck. While the physical
nation can only hold a few thousand (30-40,000) the number of
citizens in other nations is growing rapidly. Oh, they also have a
reconditioned missile sub that still has a few launch tubes open, but
most of the tubes are for launching drones and holding cargo.

In my campaign Malaysia has also turned into a huge information
powerhouse. The characters didn't actually get to see much of the
actual workings of the country, the were too busy protecting an urban
brawl star in an exhibition game they were holding in part of the
jungle.

I try to use other locales to spice up the adventures occasionally.
Seattle's a great place (I live near it!) but there's only so many
companies you can piss off and still be able to work while waiting
for the area to cool.
