I thought this was a good topic because it was new. I just saw the
article on the rail gun. The point was that they were mounting it on a
tank to use as a battlefield weapon, not just a big testing bed. I dont
remember the speed (i think 10m a second is slow), but I do remember the
power source. They weren't able to get generators or batteries to crank
out enough juice, so they are using a giant flywheel. Stores up all sorts
of kinetic energy with a recharge to fire time of about 1 minute. And the
prototype is going to be built soon. Come to think of it,it almost looked
a little like a Stonewalll MBT...
