But, you do however, receive free and axtra dice equal to your grade, for
the sole and only purpose of sheilding. That is the other side of the
argument. Personally I think it is silly to give sheilding dice to a non
spellcasting character, even if the are magical. Sorcery and Astral
Perception would be the requirements I'd lay down before anyone got
sheilding if they were not a spellcaster. Hmmm, small problem with that is
that it rules out anyone besides phys adepts (enchanting adepts and conjuring
adepts can't get astral perception).

Precisely. This is also what I tend to believe when it comes to sheilding
too. If you haven't seen spells from the astral, and/or haven't studied
sorcery, how the hell do you know how to block an incoming fireball?
