In case one (which is the one I would say happens), the barrier becomes
like a wierd armor spell. In case two, how does the barrier know to let
only the attacks for the caster in. Like a stray bullet that missed your
sammie hits the mage, but wait the barrier would have stopped it, but
wait then it wouldn't have gotten through to be missed by the sammie,
but....
The first seems to be the only case the works.

A side note on barriers: do you guys remember/use the -1 to hit people
in barriers. It is the last line of the spell. The barrier isn't
invisible, it is a crackling wall of energy, that is very easy to see.
