playing sessions. Here are a few suggestiosn:
The Katherine wheel
(personally, I think that this is one of the best pieces of music for RP
gaming. Much of it lacks vocals and the pieces that are pure instrumentals
are like illustration-pieces for what music can do to project moods. Two
soldiers is especially good.)
(David Byrne & Brien Eno.)
My life in the Bush of Ghosts
[the lyrics are extremely distracting but it is very good music.]
(David Byrne & Brien Eno.)
Zoolook
[odd, very atmospheric, there's nothing in it that says "firefight," but
there is a lot of strange future in it.]
(Jean-Michel Jarre)
Passion Sources
(Heavy vocals but in foreign languages, serious percussion. Middle-Eastern
musics often including various singers---obiviously, nothing in this is
intended ot sybolize gunfire but really good music with wonderful rhythms in
it.)
(Peter Gabriel)
Beyond this, soundtracks to action movies that your players haven't seen
might be interesting. Almost everyone makes some sort of soundtrack album
nowadays and they contain everything you want: in fact, they were designed
that way. Aside from the fact that I would have to ignore the lyrics, the
soundtrack from the movie, "The Crow" would make a really good example: there
is a lot of music in the album for sneaking around in the dark. Have fun.
