OK, this may be a little late, but here's my take ont he karma pool/threat
pool dealie bob.

I've discovered threat is great when you take into account bugs or thugs.
No-names. People you can use generic mods & numbers for.

But I've discovered karma & pools are great for villians. I'm talking the
big bad mofos that you run into. Give them some karma and full access to
combat and magic pools, and look out. You've got some bad ass bad guys.
Imagine the look on a player's face when they hit a shielding mage and they
say, "Aha! I have 2 successes on my force 8 manabolt! Eat that, sucker!"
"Ok. He reels, but doesn't seem to take any damage. He fires back witha
fire bomb spell. Better duck...."
