I once had a girlfriend with a severe Thyroid problem. Before she started
taking medication (before I knew her) she suffered, alternately, from
hyperactivity and exterme weight loss and from sluggishness/drowsiness.
Now she takes two kinds of medication: one to completely shut off the
natural workings of her Thyroid gland and another to provide synthetic
versions of the hormones she should be getting.
