I would disagree, having sat on top of an M1 tank which was next to antother
tank (3 feet away) while it fired main gun rounds at night, I will admit to
being temporarily blind for 3-4 minutes. I was deaf for a couple hours of
course but being blind really didn't affect me. If I was able to see in 4
minutes from a 105mm blast at night at a close, unprotected range as possible,
then a small pistol will not blind you for 10 minutes.
In addition, I have been on firing ranges at night where M-16s, 9mm pistols
and M-60 machine guns were firing. I was not reallly affected by the muzzle
blasts as well (about 30 seconds for a 9mm pistol, that's all).
