I thought that the Chinese bought some similarly modified SU-35's from
Ukraine. I read somewhere that the Chinese wanted the SU-35's outfitted
to fly off the carrier that Ukraine is going to sell them (I haven't
heard anything more about it in a while. I know that the rest of the
countries around China weren't too happy about it. There's a 5 way
territory dispute over some islands in the South China sea).
