Does anyone have an idea how Ultrasound works?

Halving penelties is all well an dandy but does it work against
invisibility ? My dwarf would love to know as currently his
'invisible mages scragged' tally is up to six, missed the
last fragging snot due to a fragged datajack. It's a long story.
Anyway back to the point, does ultrasound get effected by silence
spells ?
