Sounds pretty much like a sensory deprivation tank to me. So I asked myself
"why the need for such more extensive cyberware for rigging than for
decking, if both completely ignore the normal human senses?". The only
explanation I could think of was that while decking replaced human senses
with matrix generated equivalents (instead of seeing/hearing/smelling what
you real body was, you see/feel/hear what the matrix sends to you), rigging
actually added in quite a few senses that were not natural to humans (how
many people are used to sensing 4 wheels and a fuel tank as part of their
body, let alone something like a aircracft with wing flaps and the like).
The rigger gear doesn't replace human senses (well, maybe some like vision
in some cases), it augments the human sensory system with a whole new field
of senses. Hence the large amount of cyber required. (Not to mention that
making someone compatible with a car might have some odverse affects on
their aura.) Sound reasonable all (Rat? :-)).
