If it's on autopilot, it keeps on trying to do whatever it was supposed to
do until it can't do it anymore. If for some reason the drone had no
autopilot, or the rigger was keeping full direct control, it stops working
(possibly falling on someone's head.)
"Free drones" assume these drones' control systems actually have some sort
of actual intelligence or sentience. If you ever found one that did, you
could probably sell it to Renraku's AI project for about 17 billion nuyen,
right before Renraku's people kill you for ever knowing about it.. >8->
As for fighting for control.. with a remote control on the same frequency
and the same encryption codes and protocols, I don't see why not. It'd be
difficult to get those codes, though. I'd say play it the same way you
fight for control of a rigged security system, in the back of the CorpSec
Handbook.
