I don't believe in anything for its own sake, which in this case means I
don't see the point in giving something disadvantages while it for all
practical purposes hasn't got any. I agree with putting in disadvantages if
they are normal for the thing you add to the game, but I don't think you
should do it _just_because_...

Whether or not a game becomes munchkinish depends on the players, not the
rules, IMHO.
