No, you are right, there are PCMCIA gimmicks to connect cellular
phones to your laptop but at painfully slow transmission rates. But
on the other hand in 2050 decking via portable or normal phones
should be possible since you can transmit two way realtime pictures.
With a portable you are easy to detect if someone'e looking.
