Subject: Question on spells in a lock...
Date: Fri, 25 Aug 1995 08:45:03 -0500
OK. I just made up my upteenth combat mage(yup, death touch 6 and
all), and I was wondering something...
This Mage carries three spell locks: Armor(12 successes), Increase
Reflexes+3, and Personal Spell Barrier. My question is this: If the mage
has a personal spell barrier up(force6) and an astral mage/being tries to
ram a spell through it, does the personal spell barrier increase the
attacking mage's target numbres by three(as the spell about to be rammed
through the lock has to pass through the barrier), or can it pass
harmlessly on and ground to manifestation anyway? What if the spell was
not cast on the PSB lock, but on the Armor lock or the IR+3 lock? As PSB
is a mana spell, it does exist on the astral plane as well as the physical,
so this might be plausible. Of course, if this were true, then mages will
start learning PSB at force 10 (exclusive and exp. fetished), and tossing
it onto a lock or quickening it to make them much harder to take down.

If I could get a definitive answer of some sort by this afternoon,
I'd appeciate it. I'm going to Japan for 11 months to study at the
University of Tsukuba, and I don't know what kind if internet access I will
have. Ergo, I'll have to unsubscribe to the list this afternoon... But,
the ride has been a short and fun one, and I'll try to be back as soon as I
can.
