I think that I can agree with you there, the problem being that
your upbringing has a tendency to intrude on the way that you think.


There is one problem that probably we have missed and that is
that (I believe) that many of the contacts etc. actually have a very
tenious touch into the shadow community. Hence the chances that they
have 'proper' street names is actually very minimal. Nicknames
definately but not street names. The street name is something that
the shadowrunner cultivates both as a form of protection and as a way
to individualize him / her self from the rest of the wanna-be-
runners. Comming to think of it, (at least in our campaign), no other
characters in the group know any of the other characters real (birth)
name, even their false names on the credstick.

Point out of curosity, has any one considered generating a list
of contacts (say drawn from the different campaigns we each play)
combinding them into a comprehensive list to provide a base whereby
if the GM requires a quick NPC or contact, rather than spending a
month generating one can pick one (Other than those mentioned in the
Sourcebooks). Actually you could expand that to other players. (I am
not suggesting continuity with several campaigns)
